Confined spaces such as lift shafts need to be monitored to ensure that the enclosed or partially enclosed area is safe to enter when required. Air quality contaminants of an enclosed space can be but not limited to Inert, flammable and toxic gases. A lift shaft is not usually entered by an individual so it needs to have a safe atmosphere and the necessary oxygen levels. The lift shaft and surrounding areas can be monitored using continuous gas sensors that don’t require oxygen to operate.
